And now, when trying to contact support… I found out that one of the datacenters that supports Webaction BLEW UP! LOL. I’ll keep looking and post more here. Here is a repost from there status blog:

Network outage affecting several servers
Posted May 31 at 18:22 CDT by Richard Cooper in Downtime - 0 comment(s)
Issues at one of our data center are causing downtime on several servers. We are working to resolve this problem as soon as possible.

Update: Today at approximately 5:45 p.m. CDT, a transformer in one of The Planet’s Huston datacentres caught fire, requiring them to take down all of the generators on site on the instructions of the fire department. This is one of six data-centres used by WebFaction. All servers hosted at that datacentre are currently offline.

Update: No servers in the datacentre have been damaged. However, they are still down down because power is still out.

Update: The datacentre staff are still working to restore power to all affected servers

Update: A few minutes ago The Planet posted some more information about the outage. Here are a couple of excerpts from the post:

This evening at 4:55pm CDT in our H1 data center, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding our electrical equipment room. Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.

All members of our support team are in, and all vendors who supply us with data center equipment are on site. Our initial assessment, although early, points to being able to have some service restored by mid-afternoon on Sunday. Rest assured we are working around the clock.

Update: The datacentre staff are still working to fix the various network and power various issues caused by the fire. There is currently no firm estimate for when everything will be back on line.

Feedburner is Not Playing Nice

The site has been acting odd lately and has been frustrating folks. I am working to get the bugs out. One of the problems that was crashing the site was how Feedburner was processing our feeds. In doing research, our server technicians stated the following:

“I also checked the date/times of the errors against your access log, and every error seems to be associated with a request from FeedBurner.

Since the error is “IOError: Write failed, client closed connection” my best guess is that FeedBurner doesn’t like something about your feeds and is choking on them, which in turn is causing your app to crash.”

Ticket Reference: Ticket ID: NJB-168334

This means that, when Feedburner tries to read the feeds, it basically goes nuts and blows up the site. That is odd, considering it has worked well in the past. Feedburner may have “upgraded” something and now it is blowing up.

So, for the time being I have shut off the Feedburner feeds and created normal feeds for the site. Please update your news aggregator with the new links. I will continue to look into the issue and fix it. The new feeds work well, and I was able to subscribe via Google Reader easily.

If you have ANY questions please email dave [at] purebluedesign [dot] com. Thanks for your patience. I realize that this is really frustrating.

Thanks again… Dave

ParisLemon: Faux "HD" - It's About the Bit-rate Too, Stupid

ParisLemon: Faux "HD" - It's About the Bit-rate Too, Stupid: cool quick article on HD

xml4py - Google Code

xml4py - Google Code: This looks rad and would make django/RIA development a snap

Create a Quiz Application Using AS3 Classes - ActionScript.org Flash, Flex and ActionScript Resources

Create a Quiz Application Using AS3 Classes - ActionScript.org Flash, Flex and ActionScript Resources: Great actionscript tutorial

Julia Nunes' Videos

Julia Nunes' Videos: This is so rad.
